I protect my orchard with Improvised Elimination Devices, poison blocks reinforced with cardboard, then secured to the trees with zip ties.

After viewing this assembly of blocks for several trees, go to this video to see how I place the blocks in trees.  Go to 1 minute 30 seconds:

IED s  ---   How I Kill the Rats and ...

One block kills one squirrel or one rat.  For that reason, protecting the many trees of an orchard requires many of the IEDs.  I ring the orchard with the poison blocks.

Where I fail to hang an IED, the squirrels and rats despoil the fruit.

This video shows how I manufacture the poison-block IEDs en masse.

The rat shown died after it ate a block.

In a following video, I will also show how the cardboard protects the blocks from rain -- and how the lack of protection leads to rain dissolving the poison before the block can kill the feral vermin.
