I'm super happy with the way this one turned out. it was a lot of time and effort but it was totally worth it :D. Today I make a real infinity monitor That Reflects Forever Ꝏ . It almost looks holographic Help Support me www.patreon.com/Quiet_Nerd Quiet Nerd Playmat : www.yourplaymat.com/products/quiet-nerd-playmat Quiet Nerd Card Sleeves : www.yourplaymat.com/products/quiet-nerd-card-sleev… Unique Link/URL: www.yourplaymat.com/discount/QUIETNERD10YP?aff=112 Unique Code: QUIETNERD10YP Email me at [email protected] For today's video I took apart an old used dell lcd monitor and with a lot of effort time and money I was able to turn it into a beautifully mesmerizing infinity monitor display. The infinity effect is done with the use of two one way mirrors no camera tricks here! I began by stripping apart the LCD monitor. It went smoothly until I completely broke the LCD panel and it wouldn't stop flashing and it wouldn't display the whole screen lol. Instead of giving up and scrapping the video or turning it into something else I decided I was going to complete my goal no mater what. I went back to the same seller on eBay and bought two more of the same monitor just in case I broke one more when taking it apart I wanted the insurance. While I was waiting for the arrival of the new monitors I began to build the housing for my custom built infinity mirror monitor. I took some popular wood pieces cut them all to size and them screwed it all into there correct place. It was beginning to take shape. Once I had the housing for the LCD panel and the mirrors built. I went ahead and made a new enclosure for the power supply out of a tupperware container. I though it turned out nicely. I cant even count the amount of projects that Ive used containers like that for. I absolutely love them for electronics. Now it was time to try the monitor set up with the broken LCD panel. I planned on using a mirror then LCD panel then one way mirror and a light source to produce the infinity effect. I set it up and turned it on and nope it was terrible not good at all. Honestly I was super disappointed that it didn't work with the first go. To cheer myself up I began to just have fun with the broken panel by playing with the polarizing filters. It was so cool to see a blank white screen completely light up with color when you just hold up a piece of plastic ( a polarizing filter) in front of it. It was like magic. And it was also a transparent LCD panel witch was amazing in itself. I really learned a lot about how LCD monitors work from this whole experience. After some fun I was back to the task at hand and it as not looking good. I though making my infinity monitor was going to be impossible. But after a good night sleep after working on it until like 3 in the morning. A brilliant idea hit me! I was to use two one way mirrors and place the LCD and backlight behind it. And presto! I knew it would work! I was pumped. I then updated the design on my monitor housing to fit my changes in plan. I then began to wood stain the whole thing. I also got a little carried away and wood stained some Magic The Gathering cards as well as a broken Xbox controller lol. I doubt anyone has ever done that before lol. After I stained it all it looked super professional! I was thrilled!! I got my new used monitors in the mail and began to instantly take one apart. I slapped it all together plugged it all in and fired it up! IT WORKED!!! I was so excited!! My vision was fulfilled. It took so much longer that I was expecting but it was beautiful. It was a true infinity mirror monitor at 1080p that I could play any media on it. It was a complete success! Now I went ahead and tested it all and really just had some fun with it. It works best at night and in low light due to the mirrors nature of reflection. It was hard for the camera to focus and pick up how it truly looked in person but I still believe the video will do it justice. It was so amazing to look at. It almost looks like the images are three dimensional. Ive never seen anything like it. I am so happy it all worked out in the end. This was a huge challenge to make and I really hope you enjoyed the process with me. I learn something new every day! Thanks for taking the time to check out my channel and videos :D. Just remember always keep on pushing and never give up even when things seem impossible. If I can do it so can you! Much love - Quiet
