The fate of Russia was decided in Smolny, where the leadership of the Bolshevik Party gathered.
The Bolsheviks took power in October 1917, but, as a matter of fact, they took power in order to make a world revolution, to create a world communist community in which there would be no state borders, no governments, no army, no police. But meanwhile they decided that they need to form a government. They named it the Council of People's Commissars. Lenin said, what a wonderful name, the Council of People's Commissars, so revolutionary.
Looking at Trotsky, he said: Well, you probably should head the government. Why did he turn to Trotsky?
