Is a 2012 MacBook Pro Still Worth it in 2023? In this video I'm going to preform some basic tests and find out if this MacBook Pro from 2012 can still be affective to the average user. Hope this helps anyone who may be considering purchasing this computer by providing a real world example towards just what to expect if upgraded with todays hardware and latest version of macOS Monterey version 12.6 using Open Core Legacy Patcher. In this video, I'll be testing a mid-2012 MacBook Pro with an i5 CPU that has been upgraded to 16 GB of G-Skill RAM and a Western Digital Blue 500 GB SSD. This computer is running the unsupported OS Monterey using OpenCore Legacy Patcher version 4.11, and it's been running smoothly and stably so far.
Let's start by opening up Google Chrome to test out the internet speed and responsiveness. We'll type in some random searches such as "cooking," which comes up pretty fast, and "houses," which also loads quickly. Next, we'll head over to YouTube, which opens pretty quickly as well.
