This is a spin to the classic Cheesesteak by using bulgogi beef. This inventive sandwich layers marinated beef, caramelized onions, cheese and side of shishito peppers that can also be added in the sandwich.
The flavors are intense and mouthwatering.
Ingredients
4 servings
1.5 lbs rib eye steak or top sirloin, sliced 1/8 inch thick
For the marinate
4.5 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp mirin
3 tbsp sugar
1.5 tbsp Korean green plum extract/ pear juice/ apple juice
1.5 tbsp sesame oil/ olive oil
1.5 tbsp sesame seeds
7-9 cloves garlic, minced
4 green onions, cut into 2 inch long pieces
For the toppings
2 medium onions or 1 large onion, sliced
1/2 lb shishito peppers
4-5 tbsp olive oil (divided)
Sea salt and pepper
4 French bread rolls, split lengthwise
8 slices Cheddar cheese
