Trump-appionted Judge Aileen Cannon heard arguments from the prosecutors and from Trump's attorneys about when Trump's case should go to trial. Special Counsel Jack Smith's team has consistently asked for the trial to be set for December 2023. Trump wants the trial to be set AFTER the November 2024 presidential election.

Judge Cannon set . . . no trial date, but indicated she would issue an order "promptly." What are the implications of this inaction by Cannon and where is she likely to land on the issue of an appropriate trial date?

This video also explores Donald Trump's new favorite mantra - that prosecuting him for his crimes constitutes "election interference." Yet, in that Florida courtroom, it was Trump's lawyers who tried to tie the trail date to the date of a presidential election. Which actually felt a bit like . . . election interference, in the sense that, if Trump's trial was conducted prior to the next presidential election, the American voters would know whether they were voting for a convicted felon or someone who was fully exonerated at trial.
