The retractable partition on an
The retractable partition on an E-Class Cabriolet is defective and must be replaced.
Special tools are required for this.
Open soft top.
The retractable partition must be in the closed position.
Otherwise, a warning message appears on the display of the instrument cluster.
To remove it, the soft top compartment lid and soft top bow must be vertical.
Cover the vehicle at the rear to prevent scratches.
Remove the four expansion clips to remove the headrest cover.
Take off cover piece.
Unhook the partitions on the left and right.
After unhooking the partitions on the outside, swivel the retractable partition upwards.
You now need the "fixing blocks" special tool.
These hold the retractable partition in position and prevent it from rolling up uncontrollably.
Insert the fixing blocks in the guide rail.
Remove the four bolts on both sides of the guide rail.
One side of the retractable partition is thus loosened.
Detach the two pneumatics springs.
Only loosen the retaining springs slightly.
Removing them completely alters the pretension of the spring.
The spring would then have to be replaced.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the nuts on the right and left side.
The retractable partition can now be fully removed.
Install in the reverse order.
