Why are Indian farmers protesting in Delhi?

In late November 2020, MILLIONS of Indian farmers, many of whom are Sikhs, began a march from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and beyond to Delhi. Travelling on foot, via tractors and even on bicycle, the march was done in protest of newly implemented agriculture laws that will lead to corporate exploitation of all of India's farmers.

Whilst marching peacefully, the protestors have been met with brutal violence by the Indian State. Police have placed barriers in roads and dug trenches to halt the movement. Protestors have been blasted with freezing cold water from cannons during these winter months, faced tear gas attacks and been struck with batons.

However, the protesters remained steadfast in their resolve and are currently at Delhi, with more joining from across India. Whilst those in support of the state claim they are violent terrorists, the protestors even serve langar (Sikh communal free kitchen service) to the same officers that have been so violent towards them. The roads they travel through are swept up by protesters. And most tellingly, the protesters recite Gurbani (the Guru's words) together. They are bringing to life the same history that as Sikhs, we all grew up listening to.

How can you help?
1. Raise your voice. If you're on social media, no matter how many followers you have, share posts about what is happening
2. Get in contact with organisations that have direct contact with the protesters and are supporting them to find out how you can help. These are organisations such as Instagram: , and Instagram: khalsa_aid.
3. Support the rallies that are taking place in your home countries
4. The most important point, connect with Guru Ji. A worldwide Chaupai Sahib (Prayer of Protection) Jaap (continuous recitation) is taking place. Join in and submit your Jaap to https://gurbanijaap.com. Even if you just do 1. Nothing is more powerful than invoking the Guru in everything we do. That is why in nearly every interview on this historic march, protesters are referring to Sikhi as their inspiration for this stance.
If you cannot do Chaupai Sahib, you can listen to it on YouTube: Chaupai Sahib for Jagraj Singh & Fami...

You are witnessing history in the making. Be part of it.
