Now we can examine religious diversity from macro- and micro-level approaches. The macro-level approach, we can see religious diversity across the world in terms of regional differences among the religions which have the most believers around the world. The Pew Research Center obtained data related to religious diversity around the world. Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism encompass three quarters of the world population.

The remainder of the global population was categorized as the religiously unaffiliated (atheists, agnostics or nothing in particular), traditional religions (such as Chinese folk religions or Native American religions) and other religions. Christians and Muslims are in a majority around the world. After identifying these rates of diversity across the world, the Pew Research Center created the Religious Diversity Index (RDI).

RDI values indicate that religious diversity is low in Turkey in comparison with the UK. The UK and Turkey have different perspectives on religion.  While Turkey is secular, the UK system is not. Understanding the structure of states and legislations will make clear the implications related to religion in the workplace.
