I've been compiling my experiences from an epic adventure through Greece earlier this year. Walking (/driving) in the footsteps of some of the greatest ancients, we travelled from Athens, up to Delphi, across the Rio–Antirrio Bridge, around the Peloponnese and back.
Such an Odyssey couldn't come without a video, and the scale of it has turned out to be big enough for several videos!
So with that, please join me on my travels in part five - Sparta! Nestled within the Evrotas Valley behind the mountain walls of the Taygetos.
We were greeted by heavy rain and the thunder of Zeus, a fitting welcome to this mythical land renowned for its martial prowess. But when the rain stopped and the clouds lifted the light of Sparta shone through and it was clear that this city, now called Sparti, is a true gem of Greece.
An acropolis more peaceful than its legacy would suggest was a calming presence and made this place a truly remarkable destination.
We then continued to Tegea, heartland of Arcadia, to stop at Sparta's neighbour - a worthy adversary in war and another jewel of the Peloponnese.
Stay tuned for the final chapter in this Odyssey when we travel to the Archaic kingdoms of Mycenae, Argos and Tiryns!
