Combat engineers from Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, based out of Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., perform general maintenance on several Mark II bridge erection boats on an improved ribbon bridge spanning a section of the Helmand River, outside Combat Outpost Payne, Afghanistan, May 12. The Marines also aided the Army with manning guard posts, assisting convoys with getting across the bridge and monitoring the river. The Marines and U.S. Army Soldiers used the boats to keep the bridge steady and make adjustments to the bridge bays when needed. Produced by Cpl. Rashaun X. James. Provided by 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward). For more information, visit www.dvidshub.net.
