Following are the details about NMC one should know about if they are doing MBBS ABROAD ..
The NMC was formed to address various issues in the medical field, including standardizing medical education, enhancing the quality of healthcare services, and improving transparency and accountability in the medical profession.
The NMC Act, 2019, was passed by the Indian Parliament and came into effect on September 25, 2020. The NMC Act aims to bring significant reforms in medical education and practice in India.
Key features of the NMC Act include:
Reconstitution of the Medical Council of India: The MCI was dissolved, and the NMC was established as its replacement.
Advisory Boards: The Act provides for the establishment of four autonomous boards under the NMC, namely the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board, the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board, and the Ethics and Medical Registration Board.
Entrance Exams: It introduced the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) as the single entrance examination for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses in India.
Bridge Courses: The Act allows for the provision of bridge courses for practitioners of alternative medicine to enable them to prescribe modern medicines in specified circumstances.
Fee Regulation: The Act empowers the NMC to regulate the fees and all other charges in private medical institutions.
National Register: It mandates the establishment of a National Register and State Registers of all licensed medical practitioners.
Medical Advisory Council: The Act provides for the constitution of a Medical Advisory Council to advise the NMC.
