In Acoustic Guitar - Episode #009, “Chords & Patterns of DADGAD Tuning" we'll learn how to tune the guitar to DADGAD and create a suspended 4th chord when the guitar is strummed across all of the open strings. Generally, this sound is considered as an unresolved harmony and when performed it comes across as seeming stressed for resolution. The advantage of performing songs in the key of "D major" or "D minor" using this tuning, is that nearly every hit on the open strings provides a sound that's begging for resolution. Which is likely why almost every song that uses DADGAD is based off of a "D" tonic. In this lesson, we'll study the chord patterns popular to DADGAD, and we'll learn a number of riffs composed in the tuning. As always, the handout for this lesson (along with the Part Two video), will be in the members area of CreativeGuitarStudio.com. Enjoy the lesson!
