Here it is, your first look at the 1966 Le Mans winning Ford GT40. Over the next year and a half, RK Motors Charlotte will be documenting the entire and extensive restoration, culminating with the potential unveiling at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Since winning the 1966 Le Mans, the GT40 endured a tough life. It was used as a test vehicle before being sold to a variety of owners. It was, at one point, converted to a street legal vehicle and painted in gold. But after the year and a half restoration it will be restored back to just the way it raced on the incredible day when it shocked the motorsports world.
