This video is full-length and includes all frames except those from night-time (excessive darkness), with excessive glare, or frames with people in them. One photo was taken every 5 minutes, and the video was encoded at 15fps, so every second of video is about 1:15 of realtime. Total slightly over 40 minutes for the whole year, after culling frames. I kept the frames in the original 4:3, no cropping to 16:9, to maximize what can be seen.

Much of the video is set to constant exposure, which I later learned was unnecessary and actually harmful in outdoor time lapse. Indoor, with constant lighting, constant exposure works best. There will always be flicker outdoors, but if you don't set auto exposure, you will lose a lot of detail in overcast/dark days and overly bright days, such as when it is both sunny and snowy. Late in the video I switched over to auto exposure, but the harm was already done. Much of the snowy parts are overexposed.

This was shot indoors, in a window, with a Canon Powershot G10 tethered to a laptop using a large number of custom scripts that I've written to abstract the photo-taking process and make it easy to control. Besides writing scripts to cull frames with people, darkness, and sun glare, and some deflickering, it's been minimally post-processed.

If I did this again, I'd also try to get a shot further from the tree, but due to the angle of the building walls, there wasn't really an ideal position to get the rest of the garden and not quite so much of the tree. I also had some minor technical challenges with power outages. Even with battery backups, a power outage over a few hours caused breaks in frames.
