In this video, we go over the Median Absolute Deviation robust (or MAD robust) in JASP. The Median Absolute Deviation is the median distance from the median in our data set and is a useful measure of dispersion when using the median as our measure of central tendency.

The MAD robust is a separate statistic that multiplied the Median Absolute Deviation by a constant (1.4826) to adjust for asymptotical normal consistency. This measure is useful when you want to remove outliers from your data set but don't want to use a certain number of standard deviations above and below as your criteria because the standard deviation is sensitive to outliers. The MAD robust is not sensitive to outliers and is a good alternative.
