The Story of Chinese Character : 鹵

鹵 is composed of  the variants of 卣(wine container) and a few dots. 卣 depicts a wine container, while the dots represent the grains of salt, so 鹵 is the picture of salt stored inside a container, and its original meaning is salt. The salt in ancient China was rough, thus extending to the meaning of reckless behavior.
