This is my review of the Chicago Electric Mig 180 from Harbor freight. I'll give some of the specs, plus how I like to use the welder, and a bonus quick art project.
I'm new to welding, and I am NOT a professional or a certified welder. I use this for mostly small projects around the homestead and a few artistic projects. This review is not intended to cover this welder from a professional perspective, but rather the point of view of a hobbyist who wants to save money.
Is this budget welder a good by and $250 to $300? Absolutely! At least from my experience. I've welded everything from half inch steel plate down to 22 gauge sheet metal. Mostly I've welded rebar and few pieces of angle iron, but everything I've tried so far has worked well.
