Model railroading, railway modelling or rail transport modeling is of course also a very popular hobby in France. And when real artists, such as Thomas Gallé, start constructing model train layouts, they create truly brilliant model railroad layouts. It is a nearly realistic model railway layout because Thomas Gallé builds absolutely realistically and true to the original.

The miniature world, which was presented at the model train show called “On traXS 2024” depicts a section of the most important railway connections in Europe, namely the “Maurienne Valley”, one of the great transverse valleys of the Alps. Part of the main rail route between Lyon (France) and Turin (Italy) runs through the valley.

This magnificent HO scale train layout represents the Orelle-Prémont sector, namely a piece of the electrified line in the mountainous region located between the railway station of “St. Jean de Maurienne” and the border railway station with Italy “Modane”. This site is characterized by the intertwining of the double railway line with the motorway and the river called Arc.

Thomas Gallé has attached great importance to the landscape design. Therefore, many parts of the model railway layout have been wonderfully weathered. The quality of the scenery is astounding, and the catenary system looks very realistic. The model train layout consists of four modules with a length of 1.20 meter in the foreground and a large stabling yard for 12 trains in the background, i.e. behind the scenes. Compositions of realistic trains from different eras run on the railway lines, for example from Era IV (1971-1990), from Era V (1991-2004) and from the current Era VI (2005 to today).
