Best Stove I EVER had!!! I WILL show in detail how to restore a old wood burning stove. I don't know everything but what I do know works for me...... Craigslist presented me with this "antique" stove. I jumped on it!!!.PART 2 How I Restored This Wood Burning Stov... ........I evaluate the new classic "antique" wood stove, take it apart, set up shop, remove rust & debris,strip to bare metal, wash pieces with Brillo/SOS padded steel wool, use oven cleaner chemicals to remove excess rust & crud & wash with soap & water. That about covers part 1. Part 2 will cover the new finish on the exterior of the stove, the paint process & what paint I used on the exterior & interior of the actual fire box it self where temperatures can reach 1000*+. I got lucky this week. Total hours invested in the refurbish/restoration job, roughly 20. Once I had the stove the first day I started grinding off the rust, second day was spent totally striping the metal & prepping it for paint.The third day was paint day & reassembly, fourth day was polishing out the chrome pieces & admiring my handy work/ post a for sale ad on the stove, take phone calls regarding the newly restored stove & made an appointment for the 5th day when it sold. It was in my possession for 120 hours, not bad + I managed to make a little extra $..... All I can say is at least I have a video of the stove because with out a video, It never happened!!!.......I purchased, restored & resold this stove in less then 5 day's. I originally wanted to have a nice LARGE outdoor wood stove heater that can with stand the elements and all of what mother nature can give so I thought the best way to preserve this old wood stove is to grind it down to bare metal & coat it in fresh paint & that would be enough to seal it from moisture. However it came out way too nice to leave outside & I figured It can be better suited in someone else's care. It sold hours after posting the cl ad & yes it was hard to let go but there are more stoves out there.
