My ranking of all the
My ranking of all the 15 Pink Floyd studio albums.
Chronological order:
The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, A Saucerful Of Secrets, More, Ummmagumma, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, The Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, The Division Bell, The Endless River.
I briefly cover non album tracks including songs from their 'Early Years' boxset. I also touch upon a couple of live albums and briefly talk about their solo albums - mostly the Syd Barrett solo albums, and I give my take on the 2011 remasters.
I did forget to mention the 4th and 5th singles from 1968 - "It Would Be So Nice" and "Point Me At The Sky", but I'm not a fan of those songs anyway in fairness and I don't consider them essential. Also, although I name drop "Nick's Boogie" in the video, I didn't mention that I consider it to be a big load of nothing musically speaking, so it's not really a piece of music I would recommend.
As for the rest of the 'Early Years' boxset - I haven't worked my way through all of it yet, but there are definitely some hidden gems and rough diamonds alongside some other stuff you probably won't ever revisit more than once.
Also, I described 'Animals' as "based on" 'Animal Farm' - "inspired by" would have been a more accurate description.
There are Richard Wright solo albums too which I didn't mention, but I wasn't impressed by the bits I heard. I haven't heard the Nick Mason ones, so it's impossible for me to judge them at this point.
Sufficed to say, (criticisms aside) Pink Floyd are one of my favourite bands of all time and I hope this video does them justice.
Anyway, I'm waffling on. Hope you enjoy/enjoyed the video (depending on when you are reading this)...
