ASTM D412 - High Elongation Rubber Tensile Test

This computer generated model shows several key features of an ASTM D412 elastomer tensile test. As the sample elongates, the specimen will thin out in the middle, in a process called necking. Thermoplastic Elastomers can have elongations of 700% or more. These types of applications require an extra tall Universal Testing Machine.
