I Am - A poem by John Clare.

About the poem - John Clare's I Am is a commentary on the complexity of existence. The poem consists of three stanzas of six lines each.  The last two stanzas follow the ababcc rhyme scheme, while the first stanza's rhyme scheme is ababab.  With the exception of the eye rhymes in Stanza 1, each line ends in a perfect rhyme, establishing a melodic rhythm and well-controlled tone.
About the poet - John Clare (13 July 1793 -- 20 May 1864) was an English poet. He was born in Northamptonshire, England in the family of a farm labourer. Clare's poetic work mostly showcases his celebratory representations of the English countryside. In his time, Clare was commonly known as "Northamptonshire Peasant Poet" His early work delights both in nature and the cycle of the rural year.
