5 Tips for Perfect Gathering

I adore the look of
I adore the look of perfect, voluminous gathers on a dress, but they can be tricky! 😅 Here are 5 tips to make them easier.
1. Use 3 rows of basting stitches, instead of just 2. This gives you more control (and another lifeline if one of your threads breaks)
2. Pull on your bobbin threads. They gather the fabric easier.
3. Loop your thread tails around a pin to keep them secure once you’ve got the gathers just right. Make a figure 8.
4. Stitch with the gathered side up, so you can see what you’re doing..
5. Press lightly. Use steam and hover over your seam, or gently press on a lower setting so you don’t squash your gathers.
