Calculating percentages

Calculating percentages can be achieved by working out the basics then manipulating the information that you have to work out what you need the parts you will need to find the actual answer.

For example: 60 =100%
That would mean 30 =50% (I have simply divided both sides by 2)
3 would be 5% (I have now divided both the previous numbers by 10)
1% would be 0.6 because I'd divide both the 60 and the 100 by 100 to keep them equivalent.

Now if I was asked to work out 6% I could simply take the 5% and 1% and add them together to find the answer that I need.
