महाराष्ट्राला लाभलेला निसर्गाचा वरदहस्त म्हणजे ‘सह्याद्री’. सुट्टी मिळाली आणि फिरण्याचा विषय निघाला की, पहिल्यांदा डोळ्यासमोर येतो तो म्हणजे ‘सह्याद्री’. सह्याद्रीच्या कुशीत लपलेली अनेक ठिकाणे नेहमीच पर्यटकांना भूरळ घालत असतात. याच निसर्गाच्या कुशीत दडलेलं ‘सांधण व्हॅली’ अर्थात ‘सांधण दरी’ हे आश्चर्य आजही आपल्यापैकी अनेकांच्या नजेरेपासून दूर आहे. अहमदनगर जिल्ह्यातल्या साम्रद या गावातून पुढे दीड ते दोन किमी नागमोडी वळणे घेत जाणारी ही खोल दरी ट्रेकर्ससह इतर भटक्यांनाही मोहात पाडते (How to reach Sandhan Valley trek near ahmadnagar).
पावसाळ्याचे चार महिने वगळता वर्षभर पर्यटक इथे गर्दी करतात. सांधण दरीतल्या निमुळत्या वाटेवरून पुढे जात रात्री तिथेच मुक्काम करायचा हाच इथे आलेल्या अनेकांचा प्लॅन असतो. ही चिंचोळी वाट पुढे इतकी निमुळती होत जाते की, कित्येक ठिकाणी सूर्याचा प्रकाश जमिनीपर्यंत पोहचत नाही. समोर आजोबा पर्वत, रतन गड आणि मागे अलंग-मदन-कुलंग गड आणि कळसुबाई शिखर सह्याद्रीच्या विशालतेची साक्ष देत असताना ही सांधण दरी सर करणे आपल्याला वाटते तितके सोपे नाही.
आशिया खंडातील सर्वात खोल दऱ्यांमध्ये ‘सांधण व्हॅली’चा दुसरा क्रमांक लागतो. म्हणूनच ती पाहण्यासाठी जगभरातून पर्यटक गर्दी करतात. एका अतिप्राचीन जिओग्राफिक फॉल्टलाईन (भौगोलिक प्रस्तरभंग रेषा) म्हणजे जमिनीला पडलेली एक मोठी भेग यामुळे निर्माण झालेली ही दरी किंवा घळ हा निसर्गाचा अद्भुत असा चमत्कारच आहे. सांदण दरी दोनशे ते चारशे फुट खोल आणि जवळ-जवळ 4 किमी लांबवर पसरलेली आहे.

This valley is also called the valley of shadows as the sunlight does not reach the floor of the valley. The Sandhan Valley is located near Bhandardara near Igatpuri. Once you go on the Sandhan Valley trek you will realize that this is not just a trek but a complete package of rappelling, rock climbing, enjoying bonfires, and camping under the starry sky. The Sandhan Valley is located between three forts – Alang, Madan, and Kulang. The three forts together are called the AMK forts.
