Global Peace Index Launch 2024

How have recent major conflicts influenced peacefulness worldwide? What is the current cost of violence—from human lives, to economic impact? On Wednesday, June 12th at 1:30pm, the Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) and the Institute for Economics and Peace hosted the hybrid launch of the Global Peace Index (GPI) 2024. The GPI is the most comprehensive data-driven analysis on peace, its economic value, trends, and how to develop peaceful societies, covering 99.7% of the world's population using 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources. The conversation explored the impact of violent conflict around the world—from Sudan, to Israel-Palestine, to Ukraine, and beyond.  It looked at and how the peacebuilding field can use this evidence to better build sustainable peace.
