I film all of my YouTube videos by myself and one thing I’ve hated is having to stare at the tiny LCD screen built into my Canon DSLR camera to see if I am in focus, in frame and overall look good. After seeing how expensive field monitors are for DSLR cameras, I decided to figure out a way to use one my extra PC monitors as a DSLR monitor. Using a Mini HDMI to VGA adapter I bought for less than $10, I can now easily see exactly how I look when recording my YouTube videos.

Also, in case you are curious, I have tested this connection with both the Canon T3i as well as the Canon SL2 and both worked great.
