The Russian Su-35 fighter jet has received the longest-range hypersonic air-to-air missile, the R-37M.

Missile with NATO code: AA-13 Axhead allows the Su-35 to hit targets with a distance of more than 300 km.

With this weapon, according to Sina, the Su-35 becomes the most deadly air monster. Russia will occupy air superiority for a long time.

“Currently, the missile that has been transferred to the US Army and has the most powerful performance and longest range is the AIM-120C air-to-air missile. However, its range is only one hundred kilometers, so in this area the United States lags behind Russia,” Russia wrote in a publication.

With this new missile, the Su-35 is capable of destroying enemy fighter jets before they are detected by radar.

The R-37 also called RVV-BD or Project 620 has been integrated for several years on the heavyweight MiG-31 Foxhound interceptor .

The R-37M missile with a range of nearly 400 km is impressive. The missile is capable of traveling at speeds of Mach 6 and has a payload of 60 kg.

Compare that to the US AIM-120D AMRAAM missile which has a maximum range of 180 km, a maximum speed of Mach 4.5, and a payload of 20 kg.

The extremely long range of the R-37M would require aircraft with very powerful sensors to deploy it.

The Su-35's introduction of the powerful Irbis-E radar, however, allows the newer aircraft to also use the R-37M effectively, the company said.

It is hoped that in the future the Su-35 will be equipped with an AESA radar, as currently used by the Su-57 and MiG-35 fighter jets.

However, in modern air combat the Su-35 is assisted by airborne early warning and control aircraft such as the A-50U.
