Prof. Gabriel Filippelli, Ph.D. IUPUI USA describes the risk of bad air quality on human health. His lecture will be presented in several parts. This is part 1 of the lecture.
This lecture was sponsored by the American Institute of Pakistan Studies, Inter-University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences, and Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education, Karachi.

In recent years, Pakistan has faced a growing concern that lurks in the air we breathe – deteriorating air quality. This silent menace poses severe threats to human health, with far-reaching consequences that demand immediate attention. This lecture delves into the detrimental effects of poor air quality in Pakistan and sheds light on the urgency to address this environmental crisis.

Like many developing nations, Pakistan grapples with escalating levels of air pollution, primarily driven by industrial emissions, vehicular exhaust, and the burning of fossil fuels. Major cities, including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad, consistently experience high levels of air pollution, leading to a toxic mix of particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere.
