When you are doing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Chaturanga Dandasana (Four Limbed Staff Pose) is a key element of the practice. Doing this asana correctly not only makes you stronger, it also keeps you safe from injuries.

When beginners first learn how to do Chaturanga very often they drop their hips instead of bending their elbows. This will create lower back and shoulder injuries, so be sure not to make this common yoga mistake!

This is how to do Chaturanga Dandasana for beginners. Make sure your whole body is fully engaged and lowers from Plank Pose in a flat line.
