This one's for all you media composers who want to speed up how quickly you can write for the ways in which virtual orchestral instruments can be played. Strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments can be bowed, plucked, blown, played with mutes, struck, stroked... the list of different articulations is frequently extensive. Articulation Maps let you set up a 'preference file' which can then be used within all of your Logic projects, creating a grid of key switches. These take each articulation and set it up for its own mapped key, meaning that you can select a whole range of notes and assign a playback style to them from a drop-down menu. This is a great way of moving between Legato, Pizzicato, Staccato or Muted playing styles without the drawbacks of using key switching, the 'old fashioned' way. Jono is ready to explain all.
