The FCE Speaking Test has 4 parts and each of them is designed to force candidates to use different skills and prove that they have a B2 level.
In general, the B2 First Speaking test has the following main features.
- 4 parts
- Done in pairs
- Assessed by two examiners (interlocutor and assessor)
- You must interact with your partner and with the interlocutor
- The assessor only listens, doesn’t speak
FCE SPEAKING PART 1
In this part the interlocutor will ask you several questions about your background, likes and dislikes, etc.

This part is individual so you only interact with the examiner.
FCE SPEAKING PART 2
In this part you will compare 2 pictures and answer a question individually. Then, when your partner compares their 2 pictures, you will have to answer another question about his pictures.

FCE SPEAKING PART 3
This part of the test is done in pairs. You and your partner will have a discussion about a topic. To help you, the examiner gives you a diagram with a question and a set of prompts/ideas.

FCE SPEAKING PART 4
In this part of the B2 Speaking test, you will answer some questions which stem from the topic in part 4. These questions may be asked to you or your partner, or to both of you, prompting you to hold a discussion.
