Recycling Center - Sorting Aluminum and Steel

Single stream recycling methods create tons of mixed recyclable material each day. These mixed loads of material need to be sorted before they can be reused to create new products. Our Material Recovery Facility (MRF) sorts through these mixed loads of recyclables and removes, cardboard, paper, newspaper, glass, cartons, tin, steel, aluminum and non-recyclable material.

This video includes an in-depth look at the aluminum and tin/steel separation processes. The system makes use of eddy currents and magnets to separate tin and aluminum from the other materials.
