Hi,
So just few days back i got my Schengen Visa 3rd time in January 2022 to which i apply through French Embassy. In 2015 my Visa got refused but later on i research on depth & my visa never got refused after that & getting processed in a day only. You can ask my any question in comment regarding Tourist Schengen Visa but i don't have any experience in Study/Work visa so i will not be able to help you in that. Useful links are as below :

Visa Process
Just Got Schengen Visa from France Embassy for multiple entry 90 Days with 1 Year Validity. I asked for 50 days but got 90 days. This is my 3rd Visa as i couldn't use 2nd visa due to Covid so france embassy didn't charge me visa fee this time & i saved around 6500/- INR.
I applied from Kochi VFS centre as I am in Kerala & experience was good.
Documents i submitted
Passport & 2 photographs
Visa Application form on france website

Cover letter & itinerary
Confirmed flight return ticket (Paid & Refundable) // You can book Etihad/Airfrance for fully refundable ticket
Hostel Bookings (Half bookings from Goibibo paid& refundable & rest from booking.com) // Use credit card to book fully refundable bookings
Travel Insurance from ICICI
I am doing job so:
NOC letter
Salary slips for 3 months
Bank Statement of 3 months (Sign & Stamp) - 2 lakh Balance
Income tax return 2 years - didn't submit for 2020-21 due to not much income
Guys main thing is cover letter, please don't ask cover letter from anyone & wrote your own. If your English is not that good then write in Hindi & ask your friend to translate it in English. Good Cover letter is really required to show your intentions to come back to India.
