Hello, world!

In this series of videos, I'm putting myself in the place of a computer programmer in 1981, starting out on the brand new IBM Personal Computer, model 5150. This iconic computer is the very first "PC" in the modern sense of the word. As such, its operation and programming environment were brand new to a 1981 software developer.

In this episode, I cover some basic information about the computer, and present the tools and resources I'll use in the upcoming episodes to actually start writing software.

Useful websites, full of information, documentation, and software are:

- http://www.pcjs.org/ - contains software, manuals, and embedded emulators, including for the IBM PC 5150.
- http://www.winworldpc.com/ - contains lots of software
- http://minuszerodegrees.net/ - contains lots of manuals, as well as many tips for working with, and maintaining the old hardware.

- https://pcem-emulator.co.uk/ - the PCem emulator I will use in this series. To emulate the IBM PC 5150, you'll need the ROM BIOS files available here https://github.com/BaRRaKudaRain/PCem..., as well as the MDA resident fonts ROM, available here https://github.com/BaRRaKudaRain/PCem...
