A Krishnaswamy associates (p) Ltd production –Nearly five decades ago, a popular Tamil weekly published a serial called THUPPARIYUM SAMBU (Sleuthing Sambu) written by Devan, a humorist comparable to P.G.Wodehouse in creating immortal comic characters. This was an instant success because the hero, Sambu was a uniquely entertaining "sleuth" who established rapport with the entire Tamil reading public with his "exploits" which unearthed many peculiar crimes which were "solved" mostly by accident when Sambu stumbled on the clues.Sambu is persuaded by Inspector Gopalan to visit Bangalore to help a rich diamond merchant to protect a valuable stock of diamonds that have arrived from abroad .On the way in the train, a thief empties Sambu's luggage and fills it up with bricks for sheer weight .However, as is common in the Sambu style of things, he instantly delivers the stolen goods to the diamond merchant. How Dame Luck is on his side is what this episode is about ?
