We took the side cover
We took the side cover off of our turbocharged Predator 670cc V twin to fix a simple side cover oil leak, and it turned into a COMPLETE engine teardown. Why? When an engine that was designed to run naturally aspirated (like the Predator 670cc horizontal shaft engine) gets boosted, it generates a lot of heat and the piston rings can expand and touch each other, which can cause catastrophic engine failure. In order to prevent this from happening in our turbo dragster, we disassembled the entire engine to open the piston ring gap. Think of it like a cheap insurance policy!
