James Spann is the chief meteorologist for ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, AL. We conducted an extensive interview with Mr. Spann on April 9th, 2012 about the April 27th, 2011 tornado outbreak. We specifically talked about the EF5 tornado that impacted Phil Campbell. Even though Phil Campbell and North Alabama are not part of ABC 33/40's market, as of April 19th, 2012 Spann has more combined Twitter fans (59,351) and Facebook followers (97,256) than any local TV talent in the country. For a meteorologist in Birmingham, Alabama — the nation's 40th TV market — that's very impressive.
