Lawwill-Knight probably isn’t a name you’ve ever heard of, but in 1978 their Pro-Cruiser kick-started a phenomenon which paved the way for mountain biking as it is today: A multi-billion dollar industry, with professional riders, and bikes at the cutting edge of materials and design technology.
In this video we find out what makes this bike so important and how it compares to modern mountain bikes. We also learn some facts about it’s creators: American Motorcycle champion Mert Lawill and welding god Terry Knight.
We were given this very special bike to pore over and drool on but Malvern Classic Festival main man Si Paton, so a massive shout-out to him. See this bike in person at the Malvern Classic Retro Show ‘N’ Shine at the festival at Eastnor Castle in the UK on the 24th-27th August 2023.
