Watch as Michael explains the difference between Soju and Sake and then totally confuses himself and gets schooled by Jiyun and her vast knowledge. If there are extreme experts out there who deem us both worthy of a schooling, please school us in the comments below!

What is the Soju Society? Founded by Jiyun and Michael, the Soju Society is a group of individuals dedicated to finding, tasting, and creating the best Soju drinks in the world. Soju is the number one most sold alcohol on the planet and it's sparsely recognized and appreciated outside of Korea. We're here to bring it to the West!

What is Soju (소주)? Soju is a spirit made from rice (most of the time) which originates in Korea. Many people in the west confuse it with Sake - it differs from Sake in a few ways:
1. Sake is Japanese while Soju is Korean
2. Sake is made from brewing rice, while Soju is made from distilling brewed rice (people think of Sake as "rice wine" but it's actually more of a "rice beer")
3. Korea has an equivalent to Sake called Makgeolli (막걸리)
