Gustaf V of Sweden

King Gustaf V of Sweden reigned from 1907 until his death in 1950 at the age of 92. He believed in strong royal leadership and was the last Swedish monarch to intervene in politics. He kept Sweden neutral throughout both World Wars though there was sympathy for Germany in WW1 and certain allowances were made for German supply and troop movements through Sweden in WW2. He was very anti-communist and was married to the German princess Victoria of Baden. Upon his death he was succeeded by his son Gustaf VI Adolf.
