Imperial Guard of Napoleon (1804-1815)

The Imperial Guard of Napoleon was his most trusted force, originally kept in reserve to tilt the battle in the right moment. It grew into an army within an army and eventually sapped the strength of the declining French army in the final years of Napoleon's reign.
