The IACV valve is operated
The IACV valve is operated by a step motor. This motor has winding phases and is actuated by the output signals of ECM. Each time the IACV opens or closes to change air quantity, the ECM sends a pulse signal to the motor. A certain voltage signal is issued so that the valve remains at a particular opening. Check with your vehicle's repair manual for testing parameters. This happens to be a '97 Nissan Maxima.
