If there were a country named apraxia, I would fit in great

My name is Joanna. I have a speech disorder called Speech Apraxia. Apraxia is a speech sound disorder where one has trouble saying words correctly. The brain knows what it wants to say, but cannot say the sounds properly. In this video, I will be openly talking about typical people assuming things about my disability… just because I am disabled. There had been different times a typical person had assumed things about my disability that weren’t correct or true. For instance, I had people think that I was def because of the way my apraxia makes me sound, or people would assume that I am from a different country because of my friend who goes by apraxia. I have to say those types of people like to assume things instead of asking and getting the correct answers. Asking questions is how people learn. I was shocked when I learned that people are like this in the workplace who work with disabled folks. I wanted to make a cup of coffee and the person said that I would have to wait” I said “ok I will wait to make it” Then this person said that I said “Move get out of my way.” And continue to make my cup. If there was a misunderstanding between us I wished the person would have asked me to repeat it instead of assuming something that I didn’t say at all. Continue watching to educate yourself!
