West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said the judiciary should be sacred and honest and free from political bias. Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud backed her views and said judges should refrain from allowing their personal beliefs to influence their rulings. Speaking at a conference on contemporary judicial developments in Kolkata, Banerjee described the judiciary as an "important temple" for citizens, and it serves as the last frontier for getting justice and upholding constitutional rights.
