After a spate of unreliability, National Busways have decided that, from 2000, there will be no more Marshall buses purchased. In preparation for this, National Busways West Scotland procured a trial fleet of Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Darts in 1998 to evaluate the type. The new 'DS' class vehicles will be registered in series with the T/LGE batches of Renowns and Marshalls. Should their performance and reliability meet expectations, the DS class could become the backbone for National Busways' local services in the new millennium.
