Does Phil Gould deserve credit for Penrith Panthers' success? | NRL 360

James Hooper and Phil Rothfield were involved a heated back and forth over the influence of Phil Gould in building the Penrith Panthers’ roster into a premiership force in 2020.

Gould parted ways with the club shortly after Ivan Cleary returned for his second stint as head coach in 2019 and Hooper believes his impact has been unfairly forgotten.

However Rothfield believes Cleary reshaped Gould’s roster by offloading some underperforming overpaid stars as the two journalists were involved in a fiery exchange.
