The technology industry had seen an extraordinary revolution in the past two decades. Unlike other industries, technology touches the lives of each and every one of us, impacting the way we behave, operate and interact. However, we stand at a crossroads where technology could just as easily tip towards misuse and do more harm than good. Technologies such as generative AI are developing so rapidly that regulations and governance are playing catch up. The real danger is not the technology itself, but the people leading companies that build the technology solutions. The competitive, financially-driven leadership model of the past has led to a culture of secrecy, cutthroat competition, and detached technology solutions that can harm people. It's time to hold these tech leaders accountable for the impact they have on the entire industry, and our lives. We need a new breed of leaders in the technology industry who embrace authenticity, vulnerability, and empathy – a new model of leadership that will drive innovation and create technology that is truly transformative and beneficial for all. Kamales combines over 23 years of deep cross-industry experience with the latest digital and technology solutions. She's a Teaching Fellow at Durham University Business School, and was the first Chair of the FORBES Business Council Women Executives. She is a dynamic and influential speaker and presents regularly at corporate and industry conferences. In 2022, Kamales was recognized in International 40 Over 40 - The World's Most Inspiring Women by CapGemini Invent and Female One Zero.
