This is the time Vader dueled with Maul in legends. Vader arrives on the planet having received news that the rebels would be passing the death star plans to each other. However, all this was a ruse conjured up by a few dark side acolytes. Believing Vader to be unfit to be Sidiou’s apprentice, the acolytes cloned Darth Maul in hopes of removing Vader from his position. The two duel, and the fight is reminiscent of Vader’s duel with Kenobi on Mustafar, with lava spewing everywhere and both demonstrating feats of acrobatics. However, as the battle continues, Vader is slowly whittled down by a faster Maul who lands a massive blow to Vader’s head. Raising his saber to land the final blow, Vader reached out with the force, retrieved his lightsaber and proceeded to stab himself, in turn impaling Maul as well. A surprised Maul asked what could Vader hate so much that he could defeat him, to which Vader replied himself. And with that Maul slumps to the ground dead.
